We are the most connected, camera ready, and perpetually plugged-in generation ever.

With that in mind, Colin Young, Founder and Editor- In-Chief of This Week on MV, saw a streaming media void on the Vineyard and filled it by launching the Martha’s VIneyard Channel.

A seasoned photographer, writer, and trailblazer, Young moved to MV in 1994 from St. Thomas. He put down roots and in 1997 started This Week on MV.

A colorful and indispensable print publication, This Week on MV was Young’s vision for the go-to reference of the island for tourists and a place for businesses to advertise.

Fast forward some two decades, and the vastly changing way we now consume news, content, and entertainment, the Martha’s Vineyard Channel debuted, Young expanded.

“We launched Martha’s Vineyard Channel in 2019 as a place to deliver streaming content about what’s happening on MV to islanders, tourists, those planning a visit, as well as off-islanders who just want to keep up to date about the best Vineyard places to shop, eat, see,” Young said. “And of course, to keep up with the eclectic nightlife.”

The Martha’s Vineyard Channel is a natural space for an extension of This Week on MV, Young explained. But its not just for our shows, we are encouraging people with ideas for shows to contact us. The Martha’s Vineyard Channel is open to anyone interested in creating content on, about or inclusive of information on Martha’s Vineyard.

This Week on MV started out by changing every other issue of the paper to a an episode on the Channel. Every episode of This Week on MV can now be found on the channel. It is a great, fun, and essential resource for easily finding things like the best burger on the island, where to find MV- themed jewelry, designer clothes, T-shirts, and much more– all in short, entertaining video clips.

The Martha’s Vineyard Channel can be downloaded on any smartphone. It can also be accessed on Roku and Amazon stick devices. Stay tuned as the Martha’s Vineyard Channel expands its content and reach.

Filmed by Boston-based Performer Media, and hosted by media influencer Nicole Spiller, the video clips are professional with a personal, friendly touch.

In addition to the free print paper and streaming channel, Young also created a 3-D interactive map of the island. Here you can find all of the Vineyard’s hot spots, the island’s best attractions, and where to go hiking. A click on a location will bring up a This Week on MV article about the spot and Martha’s Vineyard Channel video will pop up.

“We are really just getting all of this started,” Young said. “We have plans for a cooking show and real estate show. We want to have a place where everyone can deliver, via a one-stop streaming hub, updates about island activities, live shows, upcoming events, and whatever. This is all about connecting with the community and connecting the community to the world.”

It is impossible to visit Martha’s Vineyard and not feel inspired. For those times when you cannot get to the island, get that inspiration from the Martha’s Vineyard Channel.
