Welcome To The Party, Featuring Mustaches and Sarcasm

The sun is high, the weather is hot, and summer has returned once again. Year after year, these natural occurrences have only spelled one thing for store owners on the Vineyard; business! Every business owner on the island searches for that one element that will make their store stand out to visitors and locals alike as the summer months heat up.
The owners of The Seafood Shanty in Edgartown have found their unique fold; theme parties. Every Thursday night, the upper floor of the Shanty is transformed into an adult playground, filled with drinks, party favors, loud music, and the odd fake mustache thrown in every once in a while. The parties feature a different theme every week, and are eagerly awaited by local. Many visitors stumble into the theme parties as well, and are excited by the rare find.
The themes of the parties, called “Theme Thursdays”, are usually quite humorous. One hilarious and highly popular theme is the ‘ Not Good Enough For The Yacht Club’ party, as part of the good natured joking between the Shanty and the Yacht Club across the way. The ‘Not Good Enough For The Yacht Club’ party is thrown ironically, sometimes even at the same time as the Yacht Club has its dinner. Another popular Thursday night special is ‘Christmas in July,’ featuring a live Santa Claus.
The point of the parties is to be light and funny, and to let locals and visitors blow off some steam. This Thursday’s theme is Pirate Night, which promises to be a smashing hit. The parties will only grow in intensity as the August crowds come in, and it’s a near guarantee that good times will roll every Thursday night for the rest of the summer. Let’s get this party started!
