Phil Lesh

By Diane Alter

Rock-and-roll legend Phil Lesh, a founding member of the Grateful Dead, with whom he played bass guitar throughout their colorful and storied career, has just revealed the lineup for his headlining set at the Beach Road Weekend on Sunday, August 11.

Joining Lesh on the Vineyard Haven stage will be: two-time Grammy winner guitarist Eric Kranso; Cris Jacobs, former frontman for the acclaimed American jam band The Bridge; sultry blues singer/songwriter Nicki Bluhm; multi-instrumentalist and enchantingly entertaining singer/songwriter Jason Crosby; and rock and jazz drummer and percussionist John Molo.

After the Grateful Dead disbanded in 1995, Lesh continued the tradition of band’s family music with Phil Lesh and Friends, playing homage to the Dead’s music via playing their originals, common cover songs, and the songs of the members of his band. He has an incredibly loyal and loving following.

Beach Road Weekend has also announced the lineup for the “The MV Stage,” a special and separate venue set up to feature local artists.

Among acts to take The MV Stage are former Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando; crowd favorite The Phil Darosa project; and Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish.
