The owners of The Seafood Shanty in Edgartown have found their unique fold; theme parties. Every Thursday night, the upper floor of the Shanty is transformed into an adult playground, filled with drinks, party favors, loud music, and the odd fake mustache thrown in every once in a while. The parties feature a different theme every week, and are eagerly awaited by local. Many visitors stumble into the theme parties as well, and are excited by the rare find.

LED Paddle Boarding is the newest attraction at Island Spirit Kayak. The LED lights allow you to see fish, scallops and all the sea life below you. Paddle Boarding is also so simple, so you don’t have to work on any skills before you come out and give it a try. You do use muscles in your feet that you never knew you had, but it’s a good feeling. You’re having so much fun, so it doesn't feel like a workout.

The most fun and coolest sport in ocean sports this summer is Flyboarding. “It’s the biggest thing to happen to water sports since the invention of the Jet Ski” says Mark Clarke, a coast guard licensed captain and the owner of Martha’s Vineyard Ocean Sports. Anyone young and old can experience what it feels like to zoom through the water like a dolphin and soar upward with the full jet propulsion of a jet ski, thanks to Clarke’s expert staff.

In a combination that pays homage to the decommissioned Islander, Shirley Temple’s cheerful melody and a mother’s sweet tooth, the Good Ship Lollipop candy store was born. And the shop is indeed a haven for both the young and old. Part of Good Ship Lollipop’s success is staying true to old-fashioned roots while exploring an entirely new domain of sweets; both adults and children delight in finding classics like candy necklaces, Mint Juleps chews, and Necco banana splits in the store.

Third World Trading Co, located in Oak Bluffs, is a beloved Vineyard shop that offers an extraordinary selection of clothing, jewelry, and home goods from around the world. The store itself is cozy and vibrant without seeming over-crowded and customers will certainly leave each time feeling as though they saw something new and utterly unique. Lori Katsounakis, owner of Third World Trading Co, spoke with This Week about her personal experience in retail and the evolution of her store.
