The grill at Island Cove Adventures is a gem hidden in plain sight. This highly unique business is located across from down island Cronigs and features a mini golf course, an ice cream bar, a rock climbing wall, and, for the purpose of this article, an outdoor grill. Stepping onto the Island Cove golf course is magical and akin to stepping back into childhood. Gosselin says of the Island Cove, “This is a little oasis where people leave the world behind.”

Food With a View at Coop deVille

0
Coop deVille, located harbor side in Oak Bluffs, is home to the island’s finest, most flavorful chicken wings, served there for thirty years. Of course, the restaurant evolved throughout its years on the island, significantly expanding its menu to include seafood dishes and numerous craft beers, and has only grown more popular. The proximity to the picturesque Oak Bluffs Harbor surely doesn’t hurt, as customers are seating only a few feet from the lapping water. Far from only a wing joint, Coop has blossomed into a local favorite for seafood and pub food.
Murdicks Cafe

Murdick’s Cafe, Perfecting the Classics

0
On the Vineyard, the name “Murdick’s” calls to mind the mouth-watering, buttery confectionery found in the island’s favorite fudge shop. The business famous for its treats—fudge, brittle, popcorn, and more—has been in operation on the Vineyard for decades. Murdick’s is well-known for its adventurous recipes like Cape Cod Cranberry, and the shop is second to none when it comes to perfecting the art of food production and customer service. It only makes sense that the sister business, Murdick’s Cafe, displays the same attentiveness to excellence. Business owner Mike McCourt opened the cafe in 2011, in a space previously rented to Old Stone Bakery and Gourmet Bakery in Edgartown. He spoke with This Week on MV about his business, emphasizing the company’s commitment to quality customer service.

Owners Jessica Lyon and Christina Izzo first met here on the island, and fell in love with the Vineyard style of living. Years later, they have man-aged to turn their affinity for the island spirit into an unmistakable brand that features everything from the basic logo t-shirt to the more classy selection of resort wear. This Week sat down with Jessica to find out more about the past, present, and future of Slip 77.

Putting on the Ritz: An Old Bar Gets a New Look

0
The Ritz has been a Circuit Avenue hot spot in Oak Bluffs since its grand opening in 1944. Prior, the space was a fish market and then a soda fountain. Changing hands only a handful of times, Larkin and Jackie Stallings are currently working closely with current owner Janet King to become the bar’s official fourth set of owners. Larkin says plans for the renovated Ritz are to highlight the bar’s reputation as a local, funky, dive hangout and add a little Southern charm to it. “It’s all about making it simple and fun,” Larkin said.
