If there is one thing visitors to Martha’s Vineyard love more than discovering a new or not so new but recently discovered eating place, it’s telling others about it. Especially when the place involves a dynamite dessert. The Island House’s Mud Pie is a bring-the-house-down creation made with a creamy whipped baked pudding and a decadent chocolate cake that is topped off with a rich chocolate fudge sauce for a hearty slice of warm gastronomic bliss. The first bite into this mass smooth chocolate mound is heaven, as is every bite that follows. A generous slice of this gooey chocolate cake was placed in front of our party of two at 8:23 p.m. Time of total deconstruction was 8:33 p.m., which included some finger licking. We paid our last respects and the bill, and left vowing for individual mud pies on our next visit.
