Still Here, Still Fabulous, Still In Edgartown

WHATEVER STERLING SILVER, one of the island’s favorite locations for creative, distinctive, and meaningful jewelry, has consolidated locations into one. After some 25 years of running several street carts in downtown Vineyard Haven, owners Marc and Heidi Glasser are now focusing their efforts on running one of the island’s premier jewelry stores in a single location at 1 Main Street, Edgartown.

“We are still here,” Marc told This Week on MV. “We want people to come see us in Edgartown. Running the outdoor stores in Vineyard Haven just became impractical and too much. The summer temperatures and elements, as well as retaining the right employees, also came into play.”

Marc noted the Vineyard Haven carts were a destination for new and regular customers. But not to worry. Whatever Sterling Silver (at its Edgartown address for 26 years) has everything that was offered in Vineyard Haven and more. Marc and Heidi travel extensively looking for the most unique pieces, some with lovely depth, some with beautiful balance, and some with touchable textures. The Glassers have a passion for finding one-of-a-kind jewelry.

“We hand-pick everything,” Marc said. “Our philosophy is to buy the coolest stuff. Every year we stock something different with a Martha’s Vineyard theme. This year it is a heart around the island.”

This year’s piece is something special to add to a collection of MV jewelry, and it’s also a nice way to start one. According to Marc, nice doesn’t go bad. You can never have enough nice jewelry. “We are not trendy, we do not stock mass-produced items, we do our own thing, we are who we are, and we do it well,” Marc said.

Whatever Sterling Silver in Edgartown is without question one of MV’s jewels.
