Pops of color and Vineyard pride may have grabbed your attention as you strolled the tourist locales and shops in any of the down Island towns; like spring flowers in bloom the three Soft as a Grape stores are bright and bountiful, a before-we-leave-this-vacation stop that should not be missed. Easy to spot and easy to find, these destination retail stores have something for every member of the family. And with licensed Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins lines, you’re sure to find it all. This Week sat down with owner Richard White to talk shop.
TW: Describe Soft as a Grape in two sentences.
RW: A clothing company with three retail stores on Martha’s Vineyard and six retail stores on Cape Cod. We have the best colors, styles, and selection of tees, sweats, and resort apparel for the entire family.
TW: Soft as a Grape signature purchase?
RW: Our pigment washed Vineyard crew neck sweatshirt; our v-notched neon hoodie; and our open bottom sweat pants have been our best sellers so far in 2014.
TW: What excites you about this season? Anything new?
RW: We are very excited about our new colors and styles for 2014. They include our USA ¼ zip sweats for men and our funnel neck open bottom sweats for women. We have also added many new items in 2014 including…a french terry striped nautical hoodie; a hockey-style MV hoodie and full zip track jacket.
TW: How is Soft as a Grape different than other island shops?
RW: We have an experienced group of sales associates who go out of their way to assist our customers with their purchases. The quality of our clothes is second to none and lasts. Our stores are designed with a family budget in mind. We manufacture and produce our own branded resort lines.
TW: If you could only make one purchase visiting your store, what would it be?
RW: It would have to be our Vineyard felt-lettered periwinkle blue pull over hoodie in XXL.
