FARAH “COCOA” BROWN is an acclaimed American comedian, actress, and writer, celebrated for her dynamic stage presence and honest, thought-provoking humor. Born on October 9, 1974, in Newport News, Virginia, Brown graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a Master of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix.
Brown is best known for her roles as Jennifer in Tyler Perry’s TV series For Better or Worse on OWN and as Lytia in the film The Single Moms Club. She has also appeared in notable projects, including American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, 9-1-1 on FOX, and the comedy film Ted 2.
Her stand-up career includes performances on BET’s ComicView, One Mic Stand, and Showtime at the Apollo, where she built a reputation for weaving personal stories and life lessons into her comedy.
Known to fans as “The Truth,” Brown’s comedy draws deeply from her own experiences, blending humor with resilience and empowerment. She has received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination and continues to expand her career with projects in writing, producing, and stage plays. Brown is also a proud single mother to her son, Phoenix.

TW: What are you most proud of?
Cocoa: My son, and the man he is becoming.
TW: What was the moment when you knew you wanted to be a comedian?
Cocoa: When I got my first laugh on stage, just by being myself.
TW: What do you splurge on?
Cocoa: Wigs and my home.
TW: Is there anywhere you pinch pennies?
Cocoa: Trendy items such as fads and anything that will not even be popular six months from now.
TW: What is your exercise routine?
Cocoa: I love to walk in the park each morning and do Pilates.
TW: Coffee, tea, or cocoa?
Cocoa: Coffee all day.
TW: I haven’t been drunk since…?
Cocoa: The last time I came to Martha’s Vineyard (ha!)
TW: I’m on a kick about…?
Cocoa: Healing, shadow work, and being the best version of myself daily.
TW: Please tell us about your favorite dessert.
Cocoa: Ooey gooey butter cake.
TW: What are you excited to do and/or see while in Martha’s Vineyard?
Cocoa: I can’t wait to go back to this cute boutique I found on the island that has the best crystals and spiritual enlightenment items.
