Harbor Views, Seafood and……Booze. What’s a better way to describe summer, right? Whether you’re into the party scene or not, The Seafood Shanty in downtown Edgartown is the perfect place to satisfy your summer palate for delicious food, and thirst quenching drinks.

Although The Shanty is one of downtown Edgartown’s most popular restaurants by day, by night it transforms into a stellar nightlife destination, complete with a DJ, patio, and indoor bar on the upper level.

If you’re looking for something to do on a Thursday night, head on over to The Shanty for Theme Thursdays to find an exciting atmosphere and crowd to create an addicting nightlife cocktail that will keep you coming back every week.

Manager Mathew Byrne has been thinking of themes every week for years, with the beginning of it all named after The Shanty’s Neighbor, The Edgartown Yacht Club. Thus, The Not Good Enough for Yacht Club Party was born.

“Since the Shanty is right next to the yacht club, we decided to throw a party for all those that aren’t exactly yacht club material. We encourage people to dress like they are going to the yacht club, or like they should be kicked out. Everyone gets an excuse to dress like they normally wouldn’t” says Byrne.

This was the party that started it all. Not only because the theme is relevant to tourists, but because it’s something to look forward to every week. Other themes such as Christmas in July and Revenge of the Nerds have become increasingly popular.

“This year we will be doing an Olympic theme to celebrate the 2016 Olympics. In mid- August, we will also be throwing a full moon masquerade. We always also end the summer with the Labor Day Luau and the Shanty Prom”

The Not Good Enough for Yacht Club Party was the one that started it all and is the biggest party of the summer every year. Break out your floppiest hat, and your most expensive Lilly Pulitzer dress for a night you will never forget (or not remember).
