The Seafood Shanty delivers everything you came here for

“There’s no other view like it on the island,” – General
Manager Shepe Arias

There are many paths to take to explore Martha’s Vineyard. Beaches,
hiking, golf, shopping. By boat, by car, by bike. Whatever strikes your
particular fancy as you take in all of life’s summer joys that make Martha’s
Vineyard so popular, make sure the path you take brings you by the
Seafood Shanty on the harbor in Edgartown. There is simply no better
place to relax with fresh local seafood and take in the views from ….well,
any seat in the restaurant. Whether resting in the air-conditioned dining
room on the first floor or upstairs out on the giant deck with 180 degree
views, this is the place where you realize you have everything you came
here for. “There’s no other view like it on the island,” says General Manager
Shepe Arias.
Diners can feed their visual appetite with the Edgartown lighthouse built in
1828 or watch the historic Chappaquiddick ferry shuttling back and forth
between docks just as it does in the classic movie Jaws. Enjoy the popular
Lobster Quesadilla with fresh lobster meat, sautéed onions and peppers,
cheddar jack cheese and pineapple-mango salsa or the dreamy Basil
Pesto Pasta dish. Try the Sweet whole belly fried clams served with French
fries and Cole Slaw and a generous portion of tartar sauce. Traditional Fish
& Chips or Fish Taco’s are namesake favorites. And with all these options
we know it is hard to have a favorite but This Week on MV recommends
the Lobster Roll, billed as the Biggest & the Best on the island and if you
order it you will soon find out why. An absolute gargantuan heap of fresh
Lobster meat awaits.
There is also a fantastic sushi bar with classics like the Spicy Tuna Roll
along with some Daily Chef Specials such as the Martha’s Vineyard Roll
with tuna, salmon and yellowtail and a spicy mayo or try the Shanty Doll
made with eel, avocado and a spicy mayo topped with thinly sliced salmon.

The upstairs deck is more casual dining with people joining each other in
conversation while enjoying the view or a Red Sox game on one of the 18
flat screen TV’s. Many sports fan come to the upstairs bar during the
upcoming NBA and NHL Playoff games. The upstairs bar also offers a
great nightlife scene after the diners depart and the Dj’s start to spin the
music that makes people want to dance. And dance they do…all weekend.
The party starts at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights and on Sundays
you can catch some fried food and hair of the dog with a famous Shanty
Bloody Mary. Live music sometimes plays from 3-6 p.m. The Seafood
Shanty offers the ideal location to grab a bite, meet up with friends for
a drink, or to simply take in the distinct beauty of Edgartown. See you at
the Shanty!
