Rodney Perry is a comedian, actor and writer. Born in Chicago and raised in Louisiana, Rodney found his way to comedy via the United States Navy, where he performed before some of his toughest critics. Eventually, Rodney
moved to California where he polished his comedic craft and perfected his stage shows.

He is best known for serving as co-host on BET’s late night talk show “The Mo”Nique Show.” Rodney provided
laughs alongside actress and comedian Mo’Nique five nights a week from October 5, 2009 until the show ended on August 16, 2011.

Among Rodney’s biggest accomplishments are his 20 years of marriage, which spawned six children: five girls and one boy. Presently, Rodney calls Atlanta home.

Following is a quick This Week on MV Q&A with the very busy and bold comedian.

Q. When did you first know you were funny?
 A. I knew I was funny as a child. My second grade teacher would allow me to tell jokes at the end of the day if I would be quiet during the course of the day.

Q. What is your act about?
A. That’s kind of a loaded question. I generally cover life and relationships. But I always address the elephant in the room. So, the moment is always special.

Q. Any advice for President Donald Trump?
A. Stop Tweeting!!!

Q. What was one of your most embarrassing moments from your childhood?
A. The time I… I won’t say because it was too embarrassing.

Q. More recently?
A. Actually, I am never embarrassed. I live my life on purpose. So the thing that would embarrass most people becomes fodder for my material.

Q. Why are you the way you are?
A. Because God said be funny and I said no doubt G!

Q. What is your favorite historic event?
A. The March on Washington (August 1963). It was one of the most galvanizing moments in history as it relates to African Americans. I often listen to Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech from that day. The Dream is still alive.

Q. What do you want to be when you grow up?
A. A comedian! That was my answer at age 7 and it is still my answer now at age 46. I love my job!

Q. How do you spend most of your time?
A. I spend most of my time with my family, then I play John Madden Football in man cave.

Q. Who is your dream dinner quest?
A. Denzel Washington. He is a successful husband, father and actor. I’d love to tap his wisdom.
