Following a Sold Out First Week, the MV Comedy Fest Enters Week Two with Great Expectations

by Diane Alter

Tickets for week one of the MV Comedy Fest sold out quickly and sales for week two are off to a very brisk start.

This annual event, now in its seventh year, has quickly become of the Vineyard’s most popular August attractions. Presented by HBO, Ebony and Comcast NBC Universal, and organized by Knock-Knock Productions of Chicago, the “Fest” brings the most talented stand-up comics and entertainers for a must-see show celebrating African-American heritage and history.

Shows for week two will be held August 14, 15 and 16 at the famed Lola’s Restaurant at 15 Island Inn Road in Oak Bluffs.

Headlining week two will be comedians Melanie Carmarcho, Jay Lamont, Rob Stapleton and Damon Williams. As always, DJ Dolla Bill will open the shows with a variety of old school hiphop and R&B mixes to get the crowd hyped for the high-octane shows.

This year, the “Fest” has created a dinner package that can be purchased with tickets.

The dinner package includes appetizer, entrée and dessert. Offerings include some of Lola’s signature and sensational creole inspired dishes such as Gumbo, Southern Fried Chicken and Waffles, BBQ Shrimp, Grits, and Mango Glazed Atlantic Salmon. Divine desserts will cap off a truly remarkable meal.
