The Seafood Shanty Welcomes New Bartender to its Seaside Scene

By Liz Hilfrank

Meet Ali Arcoleo, the restaurant’s newest bartender. With six years of bartending

experience under her belt, she is no amateur at pouring drinks. Not only does she do it well, but

she enjoys it too. Arcoleo is excited to return to the Vineyard for a summer filled with the smell

of salty air.

EH: What brought you to the Seafood Shanty?

AA: I love working on the water, and I knew that it was a good job for that.

EH: Do you live on the Vineyard year round?AliArcoleo

AA: No, I lived here for three summers a few years back. And then I came back because I

wanted to come back for more.

EH: What’s your bartending pet peeve?

AA: When people rip up coasters.

EH: Oh. I didn’t even know people did that.

AA: Yeah, and napkins and stuff, and it’s all over the bar.

EH: Have you ever had any encounters with celebrities?

AA: Only one lady who was in Law and Order, I served her. Andy Samberg came to the bar that I worked at in Vermont.

EH: And did you guys have to play it cool?

AA: Oh yeah, oooooh yeah.

EH: What do you like about the Shanty?

AA: Everyone that works here is awesome. I like being able to look at the ocean all day, and

being outside, that’s probably the best part.
