Save these dates to dine out at some of your favorite restaurants, June 2 – 6, during Martha’s Vineyard Restaurant Week. The five-day event allows restaurants to showcase their food to new customers who may not eat there regularly, and diners get the opportunity to have a new dining experience in restaurants that they may have never tried before. Local restaurants can take advantage of the promotion and extra business, particularly during a week outside of peak season on the Island.

More than 20 Island restaurants will be participating, by offering prix fixe lunch or dinner options. Participating restaurants include Roxana Bar and Bettini Restaurant at the Harbor View Hotel, Sweet Life Cafe, Detente, MV Chowder Company, Copper Wok, Waterside Market, La Soffitta, The Ritz, Town Bar & Grill, Edgartown Diner, L’etoile, Woods at Lambert’s Cove Inn, Chef Deon’s at the VFW, Lucky Hank’s, Red Cat Kitchen, Oyster Bar 02557, Cardboard Box, Mikado, Garde East, 19 Raw Oyster Bar, 20 By Nine, Chesca’s and others. The first Restaurant Week began in 1992, when it was thought up by Tim Zagat and Joe Baum and began in NYC as a lunch-only promotional event. It almost instantly became a nationwide phenomenon. Nowadays, Restaurant Week is a widely implemented program across the U.S. in which restaurants in a designated-area offer special, affordable menus, from a two-course lunch option to a multicourse tasting experience.

Locally, Restaurant Week began years ago, and was founded on the Vineyard as a collaboration between the Chamber of Commerce and the Island’s media partners as a way to promote restaurants, especially those that advertise week in and week out. This year the Chamber is delighted to sponsor Restaurant Week, giving Islanders and visitors alike a chance to sample new menus and chef offerings before the crowds arrive.

“We are thrilled to see so much interest in the return of Restaurant Week. We know it can be challenging for restaurants to participate and we appreciate those that are committed to offering this to the community. We hope everyone will use this as a great excuse to dine out in June before the season really kicks off, and what a way to welcome it,” said Nancy Nancy Gardella Executive Director of the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce.

Martha’s Vineyard Restaurant Week takes place Sunday June 2, through Thursday, June 6.
