Before anyone is allowed into the water, participants sign a waiver form and are handed a life jacket and basic instructions on how to use a paddle while kayaking.              

      On a typical day, a group of kids will be standing in a circle while the tour guides are show them how to hold and maneuver their paddles. These kids are usually ecstatic and can’t wait to jump into the boats, but safety reigns supreme. Kayaking tours are held daily at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and at sunset. During the tour, the kayakers will the plentiful  natural wildlife the Island has to offer, as many different varieties of crab and fish swim these waters. Plus, as always, the food is provided. The cost of the tour is $65 for adults and $45 for children.
       If you aren’t in the mood for kayaking, try a paddle board tour. Stand Up Paddle boards swept the island as a craze a few years ago, and those that still haven’t caught on will wish they had at Island Spirit. The tours are held daily at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and sunset at $55 per person.
       Those looking for a great workout, the innovative paddle board yoga classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 8-9:30 a.m, for those who want a memorable work out. Paddle board yoga lends strength to your core as you calmly move in the ocean mist.
Want to explore the Vineyard’s natural beauty on your own? Renting your own kayak or paddleboard is your best bet. The price for renting a paddle board can range from $25 for one hour to $195 for the week.  The price for renting a single person kayak ranges from $35 for up to 3 hours to $150 for a week. If you are tagging along with a friend, or a special someone,  renting a double kayak would be your go-to choice for stealing away some alone time or making some great memories with a buddy. The scenes on this island are nice to view from afar, but they only become magical when viewed at paddle’s length. There’s a certain charm and mystique that comes alive when you stop rushing by in your car and experience the environment slowly. Prices for a double kayak range from $55 for up to 3 hours to $195 for a week.
For the lionhearted; have you ever wanted to go kayaking at night? You’re in luck. Island Spirit Kayak offers a “Full Moon” tour to soothe your adventurous spirit. Additionally, guests can also participate in LED Stand Up Paddle boarding. LED lights are hooked up to the bottom of the paddle boards, and schools of fish attracted to the light orbit the paddler as the board surges into the night.
