Bite on the Go restaurant, Beach Road in Vineyard HavenThere is a lot to a restaurant name and for Bite on the Go it describes perfectly what this Brazilian/American restaurant does best. It is a great place to go for a relaxed meal with the family and friends or for a quick “Bite on the Go” for the busy vacationer or local. With a menu diverse enough to accommodate every craving, customers can select their meal from a revolving buffet that includes both Brazilian and American favorites, eating in the spacious dining area or, conveniently, taking a container of food to go.

Because of the nature of the buffet, the meal options are limitless, and many customers return time and time again. Owner and developer Valerio Destefani spoke with This Week on MV about his restaurant and history in the business, saying, “since I was eight years old I have been in business.” He originally opened the restaurant in Oak Bluffs in 2012 but in order to sustain year long business, found a new location on Beach Road, near the Vineyard Haven ferry terminal. He is even planning to further develop the restaurant in the future as necessary to meet demand, which has thus far, been tremendous.

Mr.Destefani cited his restaurant’s ribs, oxtails, and braised lamb leg as particular customer favorites, also mentioning the massive Bite on the Go burger, which includes two burgers, bacon, eggs.

The ribs, are highly recommended and are smoky and tender with just the right amount of sauce. Bite on the Go also boasts fried plantains—an uncommon dish on the Vineyard— which are tangy and fresh. There are three to six different styles of meat served daily and even more options when it comes to sides.

Vegetarians will find plenty of options with rice, beans, numerous cooked vegetables, and an expansive salad bar. The building housing Bite on the Go has several past incarnations, but one would never know walking into the dining area. It seems as though it was made to be a restaurant with cheerful yellow walls and plenty of windows overlooking the Vineyard Haven harbor.

Regardless of the time of day, be sure to try Bite on the Go’s original cuisine. Bite on the Go is open from 7:00a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The buffet is available starting at 11:00 a.m. and just recently extended through dinner hours.
